K Summer Wk2 - Volcanoes and other things that go ‘BOOM!’ PDF Print E-mail

Volcanoes and other things that go ‘BOOM!’  This has been a great topic to discover new science experiments and enjoy ones we have done before.  Our first explosion of the week was an oldie but a goodie coke vs. mentos, during outside time Ms Rebecca set up a table and showed us what happens when you put mentos into a bottle of coke ‘cool’.  We tried this with a varied amount of mentos to see if we could get a bigger better and higher explosion, and they were great fun to watch.  We also made our very own paper mache volcanoes and painted them to take home, we watched as Ms Rebecca demonstrated how to make our own eruptions at home and hope that everyone had fun showing their Mums and Dads.  Then Ms Jeanne helped us to build our very own rockets, which we painted and decorated before having ‘rocket races’ on some fishing wire from one end of the class to the other.  WOW !!! what a fun week and there was still so much more.  To see what we got up to view our photo gallery here.  SPW2
