Saturday NIS Programmes
We are excited to invite you to join us for our first term of the Saturday English programmes starting September 22nd, 2018. Your children will be learning and using the English language in a fun, engaging, and interactive environment. The sessions are aimed at expanding knowledge and vocabulary in various topics, encouraging speaking, and reinforcing reading and writing skills through stimulating children’s creativity and imaginations. Our goal is to build each child’s confidence in using the language so they can enjoy communicating in English. Some of our activities include:
• Reading and listening to stories
• Speaking and Listening
• Singing songs
• Physical activity games in English
• Arts and crafts
• Vocabulary building
Enrolment is open to all. These lessons are suitable for students learning English as a second language and are familiar with the English language in the classroom. If your child has zero or little English background knowledge, this program is not recommended. The first day of the program will be an assessment for new students. The teacher will inform you after the initial session to let you know if the program is suitable for your child.
There will be four programmes this year including one each for Kindergarten (ages 4-5), Grade 1/2, Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6. The programmes are ongoing throughout the year, divided into three termed terms (see below for the schedule). The session is three hours in length from 9am-12pm on Saturdays, with two 15-minute breaks in between.
