Attend the play interview

Within two weeks of receiving your application, we will send an application acknowledgement email which will indicate when you will hear from us next. Interviews are in the form of play sessions. Our staff will observe your child playing, which helps us balance classes with diverse personalities and interests. The interview process is slightly different for priority applicants.

Applications are not prioritised by date of receipt. Every effort is made to accommodate families moving to Hong Kong. NIS has a rolling admissions policy; children are accepted year-round as space becomes available.

What's next?

You will receive written notification of the interview results. Children not immediately offered a spot are placed in the waitpool. Children not offered a place are welcome to apply again the following year.

Admission
Priority

Priority admission will be granted to those children, provided the applicant and family meet all set criteria and requirements, who are also in one or more of the following categories:

• Applicant is a student at a GenCE school (normally for at least one academic year – may be shorter if arrived in Hong Kong mid-academic year from overseas).

• Primary: Applicant has a sibling who is already in the primary school (or who is a graduate thereof) to which they’re applying, provided the length of time at that school is sufficiently long to indicate support. Normally, a GenCE Kindergarten graduate will have priority over a younger sibling attending a different Kindergarten.

• Applicant has a sibling attending another GenCE school, provided the length of time at that school is sufficiently long to indicate support.

• Applicant is a child of an alumni of a GenCE school.

• Their family is from overseas, and seeks an international education for their children.

2023-24 Tuition Fee

Kindergarten tuition fees for 2023-24 : HK$74,840 payable over ten months at HK$7,484 per month.

An annual capital levy of $6,840 also applies to all Kindergarten students.

Age Guidelines

Applicants must be age appropriate for the year. The cut-off date is December 31st, and students will usually start Year 1 during the year they turn five (5). For students starting the 2022-23 school year who are born between 1st September and 31st December, parents may select the standard year level of enrolment for their child’s birth year, or select a lower entry year level. In selecting entry year level, parents affirm that they have considered possible effects on articulation to secondary school arising from their choice of entry year.

The table below indicates the year of birth for children in each year group at Generations Christian Education schools.

The main application period is from the beginning of September to the end of October in the year prior to the desired year of admission. Applications outside this period may then be accepted at the discretion of the admissions officer, subject to available space, particularly to accommodate families moving into Hong Kong during the school year.

Applicants are advised to apply as early as possible since vacancies may be limited at certain grade levels. Application does not guarantee placement and those who have satisfied admissions criteria may be placed in a waiting pool if there are no spaces available immediately. Applications may be made online using the link below.

The interview

A student interview will be scheduled at a convenient time. Depending on the number of applicants at any given time, interviews may be done in groups. Interviews for some classes are scheduled at certain times of the year (please check with the office).

An applicant may be invited for a second interview for further testing or observation. An applicant may also be invited to spend a day at our school to experience the class and environment.

What's next?

Normally a decision will be given within three weeks of the final interview or trial day. The final decision for the offer of placement rests on the Admissions Team which consists of at least three teaching members of staff.

Parents will be contacted by post, email, or telephone. If placement is offered, parents will be given a period of one week to confirm acceptance of the placement. The placement is secured only after the school has received the signed acceptance letter accompanied by the deposit payment.
